Overcoming illness...

Just as last year, I came down with the flu. I suspect that I got it from one of my nephews, which is a pretty raw deal as I gave him a cool DVD and toy.

I found out that wine doesn't help the flu so much, but does result in good times. Starting at 1:00pm, we glugged wine until we were looped, and then drank some more. We returned to my place, and after some coffee and chips, switched to our respective poisons of choice (mine was rye). A lot of hockey was watched (by me, at least), with bittersweet results. There were plans to head to the GTP, but we were all pretty exhausted by that point. Also, the flu had taken a toll on my voice, making me sound like Super Dave. And Lord knows my voice has just gotta be perfect for karaoke ;)

On Remembrance Day, I surprised myself by overcoming shitty weather, progressing flu, and wine hangover to make it to the War Memorial for the service. I figured that the fact that these were the three largest inconveniences in my life, was reason enough to pay respects.

I spent the rest of the day at my cousin's place, watching football on HDTV. This was my first exposure with HD, and I gotta say, it's pretty damn clear. But I don't think it's so mind-blowing as to warrant the extra costs, especially for someone who watches as little TV as I do.

Monday was spent ailing and wishing that the doctor's office was open. Could have gone to the ER, I suppose, but I toughed it out till Tuesday. Now I got some infection-whoopin' pills and feeling a lot better. Hopefully well enough for Friday night which should be a debaucle, if all goes according to plan.

HD is nice, though a lot of the broadcast HD isn't even at the highest resolution. But the price of the TVs is always dropping, so by the time you go for a new one, they'll probably be an attractive option....
