In the Merry Month of May

I'm just so terrible at this. But now I can recount stuff in point form -- good because a wordsmith I am not. And really only the weekends, because outside of a few trips to the Duke, not much happens on weeknights.

May 5 weekend

Never rains, it pours. Started at J&J's shindig, but T&C were back from Labrador and had planned a belated birthday celebration at Dooley's. Good to see them and hang out for a bit. Jugs (of beer) for $9.25, as I recall. The Sens closed out their series with the Devils, much to the chagrin of one of Tiff's friends. Managed to get back to J&J's to mooch some SoCo, and then a lengthy drunken walk back home, taking me along paths and shortcuts I hadn't taken since God-knows-when.

May 12 weekend

Lynnette's birthday party at her place. I found myself as the DD (!), but it's good to see the "other side" every now and then. The big hit gift that night was a hula hoop. Shared some dirty jokes with Don and Jon. Then dropped them off to the Sundance. Woulda gone, but as DD, I was about 9 drinks short of being able to enjoy it.

May 19 (long) weekend

Ahhh... a grand, out-of-the-blue, composite Saturday. Started with a hike around Cripple Cove with Geoff. The worst part of that was the dodgy dirt road to the trailhead, particularly the rusted culvert that we had to drive over. Lovely hike though; first one I had done in about a year. Then back to my place/good ol' GTP where we met up with Craig and took in the hockey game over a few beers. Sens closed out Buffalo that day, much to the chagrin of nobody. Jenn and Andrea then showed up with Indian food. Shot the shit till about midnight then turned in.

May 26 weekend

Had supper and shot pool with Jenn on Friday night -- a good catchup session. Then went to a b-day shindig for Nikki on Saturday. I tried to push the idea of karaoke, but in retrospect, I'm glad it got vetoed for going to the Rose instead. I also tackled the weed farm back yard. Between old eavestroughing, crummy patio furniture, a derelict bicycle, a tar bucket complete with oozy brushes, dead tree branches, and, yes, some woman's purse (!), I'm looking forward to bulk garbage pickup day. I've deemed an extension to the deck unnecessary since visualizing it sans the clutter. Channel that money towards a shed now.

Also, Lori lent me a copy of the first Harry Potter. I've decided it's time. That and the fact that I've been bloody illiterate over the past year and need to start reading again. Children's literature might just be a suitable calibre right now.
