Better get one post in before September expires

Recap time.

Friends coming...

I took a week off work for when Joe and House came back to visit. Joe stayed at my place (on a mattress that I dug out and threw on the floor... my house is more of a tavern and less of an inn). There were a couple of crazy nights, including one that involved a booze-up at 'the tavern', a screech-in, meeting up with Tiff in one of her last hoorahs here (more below), and heading to the GTP. Joe was also of tremendous help getting the shed completed (more below).

...and going...

Unfortunately, these people had to head back. Very unfortunately, others left as well, including Tiff & Corey who are starting anew in Alberta. Jon and Lynnette are finally into Boston after some immigration drama. Add to that list Brad, who left the island entirely after securing a job in Ottawa.

Carpentry Complete (Kinda)

The shed... she's functional. Note I didn't say done. I still need to Tyvek the thing. And I'm not 100% satisfied with the roof, though it did repel the rain we got a few nights ago. Big shout out to Joe, Jenn, Paul, and Jon for helping out.

I also finished off a coffee table project I had been working on. It has replaced the catenary-shaped, dark coffee table in my living room, and as such has brightened things up a bit. Next up: a matching console table.

Vermin

In addition to the scattered earwig that ventures inside from my remaining lumber pile, I also have a mouse living between my kitchen ceiling and workshop floor. Not really sure what the hell it's living off of (do mice eat sawdust? If so, I'll upgrade it from 'vermin' to 'pet'). I've deployed a variety of traps, but none have yielded results so far. I may have to borrow Jenn's cat to pull a hit on it for me (promoting it from 'vermin' to 'livestock').

Work

Is all right. No projects are boiling over.

There we go. A September post... with four days to spare.
