TCB

Yikes... where did the last week go?

Went for a run on Wednesday. 3k in 15:00, giving 10000 m^2/s. This is the pace I wanted for the end of the month, just gotta keep it up. I blame the run-inhibiting stitches on not waiting for 2 hours after eating. Also, I had a wicked bog brewing.

HaHA! TMI.

On Friday, Domenica was in town, so we whooped it up at her cousin's place. Headed downtown (Scumdance), and after some late night eatery, went home out of it. Split a cab back, which is probably why my head was splitting on Saturday morning -- I rely on that invigorating walk up Henry Street and Garrison Hill to mitigate the hangover.

But said hangover was no match for the pot of coffee I consumed. Went to CT and picked up some bar clamps for my little woodworking project: a display stand for my piano books. I banged that together over the course of Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. I think it turned out all right, and is serving its purpose right now. This has encouraged me to knock together some more simple furniture. Dare I say... a new hobby?

Clean off workshop benches
Tidy up office

The stand allowed me to do the latter. And cleaning up after making it allowed me to do the former.

Attach spindles

Got one of them cut and it turned out well. But then I lost the will to continue. I'll cross out the remaining 13 characters maybe tonight while being snowbound.

REVISION: Done.

Damn winter.

Running Commentary (pt. 5)

This is a little more like it. 5k in 26:00. This yields 5000^2/1560 = 16026 m^2/s. I've found it's better to start slow and accelerate (if desired) during the run.

Hmmm... two running posts in a row. Clearly nothing much else has been happening. Brad was back in town for a meeting the weekend, so it was good to see him and Melissa again. Did brunch (how I miss it) and then had a little natter at my place that evening. Apart from the couple of drinks I had at the folklore mixer on Friday, this weekend was pretty dry. And no GTP... what in the hell?

Running Commentary (pt. 4)

HaHA! Regression.

I was able to do 1k in 4:20, but then had to crawl for the remaining 1.5k in 8:40. This gives 2.5k in 13:00, yielding 8013 m^2/s. Quite the dip. Evidently forcing the pace comes at a huge cost. Also, the fact that there were 8 days between trips probably had something to do with it as well. Gotta do something about that...

It looks like work will be insane this upcoming month. Nothing's working now, and I gotta fix it all. Kinda wanna puke now...

Sleep-free weekend

Man, did it ever pour on Friday night. After everyone left, it was like a tap was turned on. That, combined with relentless winds, made for a very noisy night trying to go to sleep. I wasn't successful until well after 5am.

I didn't sleep in much as the sun was out Saturday morning, and I had to get me some of that. Just out and about, not up to much. That night there was a big ol' birthday party at a bellydancer's house, conveniently located down the road. Again, had to get me some of that.

Really good evening... different crew, a few drinks, and good chats. On the way back, we "fell" into the GTP again. Crashed on the couch at around 3am, and again an early rise. Hence my post's title.

Checked out the Superbowl on Sunday night at my cousin's house. I was glad to see Manning win -- he deserved it. Grossman, on the other hand...

No running updates, as I've been off it for the past week. I'm looking to rectify this situation tonight. I'm going to modify my goal for the end of February to keep me going. What that will be depends on how it goes tonight.

Pallets-a-plenty (pt. 2)

Went on another pallet raid last night with the assistance of Milley and his truck. Thankfully they weren't too snowed over. Loaded up the truck, and after a brief Tim's run, lugged them up the stairs -- exhausting. There are about a half-dozen, so they should last me till almost the end of the month.

I feel like such a Trailer Park Boy.

How about that January ending, eh? Thank God. It's an obstinate, crawling, tumourous mass of a month on the calendar. February, while still not a great month, is by comparison sprightly and easy-going.

Fix Circular Saw

I mowed over the cord like a moron a month ago while cutting pallets. A shining example of why it's not the right tool for the job -- hence the acquisition of the sawzall (well, that and my inability to resist a tool on sale at Canadian Tire).
